About Yilin(Rebecca) Sun

Yilin (Rebecca) Sun’s art starts by pulling clay apart, allowing cracks to form rather than resisting them. To her, clay is not merely a material but a living presence—one that holds response, memory, and warmth. She documents the fractures that emerge, drawing them back onto her vessels so the clay’s own voice becomes part of the work. Shaping forms inspired by the earth—cactus, ore, soil—she treats cracks as a language of connection. Gold luster traces these lines like a precious bloodline between maker and material, honoring rupture not as damage, but as the place where form, touch, and meaning are made visible.
